A good Host is absolutely critical to your website and your list building.
No longer is it ok to have a host that only has 99% up time, you need to look for 99.99% “uptime” and a whole range of other resources and troubleshooting tools you need.
They have to have a good reputation and be backed by armor plated client support, speed and backups of their servers.
In this day and age it is not uncommon for them to use other hosts in other geographical locations to back up to, to share the load with or simply to use as a backup to their services should a natural disaster or wide ranging power blackout or other critical factor beyond their control effect them. Which in turn effects (and affects) your site and thus your image or continuity.
The good news is that this is really an industry standard now.
There are a number of top of the line companies that offer all of this and more for what amounts to a very minute monthly outlay and have convenient and easy step up plans to grow with you whilst at the same time not costing you an arm and a leg so to say.
Depending on how many sites and lists you have it is often a good idea to have 2 or more companies doing this for you but this is more for Google and other search engine reasons.
We will go much further into this in later posts.
You have to consider your Host as your “list building partner”, if they get complaints of spamming they will quite often freeze your account or maybe drop you all together….and so they should if you have been spamming.
You have to have control over all aspects of your site so cPanel is critical.
Yes, it can be a bit of a learning curve but it gives you so much more control and understanding of your site and the business as a whole. This should not cost you any extra.
Good, solid, web hosting can start from as little as $2.95 per month and go up from there.
As long as they have the reputation to back them, the customer support, the hardware and the growth potential you think you need then this is not too low a price to pay to use a good company to help you build your list
